Senior Software Engineer (f/m/d)

Investment Funds Services (IFS)/ Vestima Section builds and maintains several applications to provide our Clearstream customers with efficient tools to manage Investment Funds Order Routing and Transfer, Custody and Settlement activities over multiple media including SWIFT 15022, 20022, Front-End, Fax, etc.

Tasks/responsibilities

In the IFS Infrastructure Development & Information Security group, you will be in charge of the infrastructure activities related to the delivery of new applications and the maintenance to existing applications. You will coordinate a group of software engineers acting primarily in the middleware area, but as well in other areas such as databases, Public Cloud (Microsoft Azure), infrastructure security and deployment architecture. Your landscape mostly consists in critical multi-tier Web applications, some of them being Internet-facing.

Your assignments will include:

• Planning, assigning tasks to and following up on the progress of the group of software engineers, in coordination with the other Infrastructure Engineering activities; making sure that deliveries are on time and high-quality; reporting to the Infrastructure Development & Information Security lead
• Assessing the work effort required in coordination with Project Management
• Driving and challenging the design of solutions
• Reviewing and approving the deliverables, including code, automation scripts, architecture documents or security documents
• Being an advisor on technical matters, including on information security implementation
• When appropriate, acting hands-on by yourself on compute hosts or middleware components, and authoring required documents
• Potentially participating in the 3rd level production support (24/6) for the middleware infrastructure, on a rota basis
• Managing the interaction with the middleware software vendor’s support engineers

Qualifications/required skills

• Master’s Degree (or equivalent) in a computer-based discipline
• Ability to organize the follow-up of multiple work items, distributed across a team; very good analytical and technical communication skills
• Hands-on experience in deploying, operating and supporting a Web application infrastructure including a Web server and an application server. Knowledge of a messaging Middleware infrastructure will be an asset
• Hands-on experience in installing, configuring and profiling/tuning Apache httpd as well as one standard Java application server (preferably RedHat JBoss EAP). Experience in Microsoft .NET technology stack will be an asset
• Practical knowledge of SSL/TLS (PKI), including its configuration in middleware software; practical knowledge of certificate/key deployment
• Experience in application security design and vulnerability assessment, especially for Web Internet facing applications. Knowledge of an SSO infrastructure will be an asset
• Experience in architecting and documenting the architecture of multi-tier applications; ability to justify and challenge architecture decisions
• Practical experience in the following technologies:
  • Linux OS
  • Git/GitHub
  • an IDE (preferably IntelliJ or Eclipse)
  • JavaEE services/APIs and their configuration in an application server
  • XML Schema
  • Apache Maven and Apache Ant
• Additional assets will be: developing with the Java language/JavaEE; experience with public Cloud services and APIs (preferably Microsoft Azure); experience with Jenkins, Docker, Kubernetes, RedHat Openshift and Ansible
• Proficiency in written and spoken English is mandatory; French and/or German  would be an asset
